Bilingual International School of Strasbourg
Performance arts workshops 2011-2012

  • The workshops are an optional feature of the school week;
  • The arts workshops take place on Wednesday mornings, between 8:30 and 12:00;
  • We understand that work schedules can make it difficult for some of our parents to come for 12 noon. It is therefore possible if necessary for children to stay until 12:30 under the supervision of a teacher. Please send in a written note if this is the case for you;
  • Students can opt to stay at school for lunch and afternoon activities with ‘Croisillon’ activity leaders;
  • The programme has been devised to provide a special opportunity for students to develop their language skills through the context of the performing arts. Workshops are taught in French and English according to the subject area and nationality of the teacher (Drama is always taught in English in order to maximise students’ confidence and practice in the language);
  • From September to January, all children participate in a variety of arts workshops each week, including art, music, dancing and theatre;
  • During these sessions, students will develop skills in the different arts disciplines in order to prepare a musical theatre production at the end of the school year;
  • Rehearsals for the production take place during the Wednesday morning sessions from February onwards;
  • The production is specially written and devised by the teachers, in order to provide each child with experience in text work, dance and music;
  • Art workshops become designated to creating scenery, costumes and props.
